A song like this comes a long:
and makes you melt.
the lyrics are awesome, and the drums are equivalent.

SOW # 6
Artist: Matt Costa
Song: Witchcraft
I like Matt Costa, and then he came out with this song on his new album Mobile Chateau. And then I turned team matt for him. The video itself is brilliantly done, and the song reminds me of The Kinks meets The Shins..
GRACIOUS!

In December drinking Horchata
This post is for that delicious mexican drink Horchata and how to make it at home.. You will need:
2 cups of white uncooked rice
3 cups of water
3 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
2/3 cups of sugar
1 tb of vanilla
1 tray of ice
The first thing you will have to do is add 2 cups of the uncooked rice and 3 cups of water in a blender. Blend the water for about 2 minutes.
Then you will have to let it sit for about an hour.
After that you strain the hard rice chunks out with a fine colander (I used a CLEAN scarf).
Finally you add the milk, cinnomon, vanilla and sugar and mix it well. Then add ice because it's probably really creamy, but it's good that way too.

You still crumble at my name
These are some old crafts I did. The ones I like are called sunburst mirrors and I got the inspiration from a Mcdonalds that was supposed to be set in the 50's.. I am in love with the 50's so I decided to try to recreate them, seeing as buying one would cost anywhere from $70 or more. You have to pay mega bucks for ones that look decent too, this one from CSN stores on Amazon costs 500+.
http://www.amazon.com/Raindrops-Forged-Metal-Mirror-Antiqued/dp/B0014EXMWO
So far I've made 4. The materials I used are:
2 packs of wooden dowels: 1 square, 1 round
Gray spray paint
2 packs of different sized circular mirrors
1 convex mirror (found in the automotive section of most department or dollar stores)
and a buttload of hot glue.
Most of these you can find at Walmart. You can also get them at michaels but they cost more.
I averaged it out and it costs about 10 dollars to make each one. Which sounds like a lot but I usually bought my materials over time so it didnt seem too expensive.
It's still a hell of a lot cheaper than $70 for an ugly one at target.
I also made this square one:

Candy Corn = 90.897986987% corn syrup.
I dread when halloween comes. Mostly because my family was never big on celebrating this holiday but also because candy corn is back on the shelves. Just like peeps, candy corn is one of those things people either love or hate. I HATE it but after some girl at my Bible study made this combination I find it more than tolerable. It's actually kind of lame because it is so simple. But it's also delicious. You may have had it or heard about it but it's just candy corn + salted peanuts.
I prefer a ratio of more peanuts to candy corn but when they are added together you'll get the comparable taste to a Payday candy bar!
Enjoy

Not just for laundry.
I’ve gotten a lot of comments on these so I figured I’d post about it. Yes, they are clothespins. No, they aren’t glued to the wall. The secret (or not) is a thumb tack stuck through the back. I had posters that I didn’t want to put holes in, and I’m not a fan of how tacks look. And it’s impossible to find a good frame for a poster. So, I painted them along with the tack and voila! Undamaged posters that magically hang by a clothespin.

It's bouquet with me.
I’ve had this light bulb in my car for a few months and I finally got around to doing something with it. I know Jeff has a collection of hollowed out bulbs that he uses as planters (which he should definitely post) and there are so many great things you could do with them (plus I think we both might be a little obsessed). Anyway, I had these flowers lying around and when I heard my friend Landon say “bouquet” I knew exactly what to do.
(floral tape, scrapbook flowers glued back to back, coin, paperclips)

Hallowreath
CONFESSION: I’ve never really been into Halloween. I love free candy of course, but the whole creepiness factor was never my favorite thing. I’ve never liked zombies or vampires or anything that’s mummified. BUT, as of late, I’ve grown a greater appreciation for the gruesome things in life (Thank you Buffy) and when I saw this in a Martha Stewart magazine I fell in love.
How I did it: bought an old grapevine wreath at a thrift store, some rubber snakes and a couple of cans of spray paint. Painted the snakes and the wreath (it says in the magazine to use acrylic paint for the snakes, which I ignored and ended up regretting – spray paint and rubber are not friends) and attached the snakes with floral wire. I think it’s by far the coolest thing I’ve ever done. So Halloweeny and creepy. I haven’t gotten a chance to hang it but I would imagine it looks even better on a door.
COST: about $13
Thank you Martha. (You’re my hero)
UPDATE: gave this to my boyfriend, looks gooood on his door. :)

with tears like flashbulbs
You probably noticed this little beauty from my previous posts and wondered what exactly it was. Yes, it's an enormous recycled lightbulb screwed into a block of wood. Why? I found the lightbulb in the trash and thought it was fantastic, so I hung it by a string in my room. My friend Jenna saw the lightbulb one day and exclaimed, "Did you get that from Anthropologie?!" After some further research I discovered that Anthroplogie had indeed sold these industrial size bulbs (all stuck in blocks of wood) in their store. I won't argue over who had the idea first, but I think the lightbulb look is pretty cool.
Anthropologies version:
Anthropologie: $80-$200
Me: $3

New song of the week (#2)
Band: The Answering Machine
Song: Oklahoma
I like most aspects of this band and I think they have a great sound -- coming mainly from their guitar's overdriven, cleaner sounding tones. I also dig thier name too and think it's clever.
They are tossed in the genre of "Art Rock," whatever that's supposed to be.

Right now, If I could take any vitamin out to dinner and a movie I'd take Vitamin B12
For all the Nutrition n00bs out there,
I am a vitamin junkie. These are reasons why I take Vitamin B complex supplements every other day.
Vitamin B-12
You can find Vitamin B12 in liver, kidneys (which makes sense because that's where they are stored in the body), chicken, eggs, some kinds of fish, and milk products.
It is a hard vitamin to absorb so a lot is needed and it is water soluble so it is easier to get rid of excess.
I got most my information from this site http://www.yourhealthbase.com/vitamin_B12.html which seems reliable since it was written by a person with a Master of Science and who is a chemical engineer.
Vegetarians and old people need it!
-Jeffy
UPDATE:
Just learned in Anatomy and Physiology that Vitamin B12 is digested through the large intestine and it is one of the main elements in making HEME PIGMENT in the blood. Heme pigment is the part of the red blood cell that can't be recycled so the body has to make it. Our bodies don't make B12 either. So more B12 = more heme pigment = more red blood cells = a whole lot of O2.

Vitamin B-12
- It is donates methyl and aids folic acid in the synthesis of DNA and red blood cells.
- It helps form the myelin sheaths around the nerve cells in the body.
- A low level of vitamin B12 has been associated with depression and a severe deficiency has shown neurological dysfunction similar to Dementia (which makes sense if the insulators around your nerves are depleted causing them to fire off each other like electrial wires)
- The red blood cells that the vitamin helps to make carry more oxygen throughout the body.

So one of my favorite artists of all time, I've just discovered, has formerly been in a band called "The Eldora Parade."
They are a happy sounding, rock and roll band that didn't last too long but I still like 'em.
So far my favorite song I've heard is "How To Ride"
Reminds me of Drive by Truckers meets The Format. Or something along those lines.
You can listen to them on PureVolume here:

Song of the week!
Band: Wild Beasts
Song: Though Dark Night
Well I like it, Danelle might not.
Well she might, she likes Tiny Tim.

baby, I'll never be your pie maker
This is one of my favorite photographs I've ever taken. I strongly believe that composition had nothing to do with it because the building is where it's at. This is the Wiltern Theatre on the corner of Wilshire and Western in Los Angeles. Seeing the building in person has caused me to gain a love for art deco architecture. If you have a chance to see this building or a show inside, DO IT!

pallet schmallet
As a broke college student in dire need of a bookshelf, I wanted something inexpensive but more charming than the particle board furniture I could find at Wal-Mart. I was at a bonfire when I spotted a pallet next to the stack of firewood and knew exactly what I would do with it. This could be done completely for free (if you have power tools on hand, particularly a saw) but I ended up dropping a little extra dough for wood stain and the lumber to make the shelves. Total cost: $20. I think the possibilites are endless with pallet furniture. Really.

Let's make a stand
I got this idea from http://finderskeepers.blog.com/. I found both the stand and the suitcase at the thriftstore. Total cost: $8.00
